The Senior Human Resources Business Partner/Director works on the development of solutions through organizational development, cultural and people‐oriented perspectives. They build strong effective partnerships on all levels of the team and successfully implement programs that drive business results and create a positive work culture. They are responsible for partnering with brand and department leads on all team member and labor relations issues which includes grievance and contract negotiations. They are a trusted advisor to their business leaders and to their team to drive results through people and organizational initiatives.

This role reports to the VP of HR, but will operate independently to support the needs of Thrillist and Group Nine Media. The Senior HRBP serves as the primary contact point for employees at Group Nine Media and Thrillist in all aspects of the Human Resources.

We want someone who cares a lot about culture and the people that form it, and will ensure we are maintaining and improving the elements that makes both Group Nine Media and Thrillist special as we grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with both brand and department leads to assess and effectively lead human resources needs in areas such as organizational design, performance management, talent management, compensation, and leadership development.
  • Formulate partnerships across the organization to drive the value of HR to leaders in an effort to help achieve the business objectives of the organization.
  • Coach business partners to create and maintain a work environment with high morale and productivity.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with the Union
  • Identify employees ready for positions of greater organizational impact, contributing to the effective utilization of best talent across different functions in the organization.
  • Participate in the evaluation and monitoring of training programs’ success. Follow-up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Develop and conduct union contract training for managers
  • Develop and maintain on-going lists of management initiatives and proposals for future contract negotiations.
  • Educate and guide managers through the grievance process and on contract interpretation
  • Represent Thrillist and act as the spokesperson at grievance and arbitration hearings.
  • Actively support managers in the investigation of grievances with a focus on proactively resolving them internally.
  • Manage and evaluate the financial impact of labor practices and give appropriate recommendations to senior management.
  • Oversee the daily administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of prior Human Resources experience
  • 3-5 years of labor relations experience
  • PHR or SPHR/SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP or equivalent certification desired
  • Experience at a start-up or digital media company highly desired
  • Experience supporting a Multi-site, Multi-state company
  • Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business, be flexible, and have a positive attitude
  • Excellent labor relations, conflict resolution abilities
