Sixteen years ago, 1stdibs was established to help the Interior Designers, Architects, and other members of the Trade, find the most beautiful things on earth. Since then, the site has evolved into an e-commerce platform that does much more: follows trends in the industry; spotlights both up-and-coming and revered Designers and Dealers; and enables the Trade to purchase items online on behalf of their clients. We are aggressively looking to grow the team responsible for generating sales and strengthening relationships with the Trade.

The Trade Sales Account Manager plays a critical role on this team. S/He is responsible for working with our top Interior Design and Architecture clients to ensure they keep 1stdibs top-of-mind as a resource for discovering and acquiring furniture for their projects. To be successful, s/he proactively seeks to understand the Designers’ needs, opportunities, and challenges, and positions 1stdibs as a solution; in so doing, the Account Manager builds a following for 1stdibs within Design firms. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being very hands-on with accounts, builds trusted relationships, and has a strong service orientation. Intrinsic motivation and entrepreneurial spirit are key attributes of the right candidate. Some light travel may be required.

What you’ll do

  • Manage and nurture relationships with the top 1stdibs Trade accounts, specifically: keep clients apprised of new features, benefits, and services; take steps to ensure that the 1stdibs Trade services are used consistently
  • Understand client needs and opportunities through quarterly business reviews, check-ins, and meetings; follow up with a strategic plan of action
  • Be the internal ‘expert’ on the nuances of the regional market you are covering, through research, trade events, and conversations with clients
  • Act as the internal project manager across adjacent 1stdibs teams to ensure a streamlined sales process, and serve as a point of escalation on any transaction-related issues
  • Collaborate with the Trade Account Support team to serve as a point of escalation on specific transaction-related issues
  • Identify and lead expansion opportunities, both within an account and across new accounts
  • Actively leverage reporting and tracking tools such as Salesforce, Outreach, etc.; adhere to the process and workflows as defined by the Trade leadership
  • Act as an advocate of Interior Designers and Architects by funneling key insights and feedback to the Trade leadership
  • Be accountable for the recurring use and growth of 1stdibs’ ‘share of wallet’, particularly for strategic accounts; other assessment factors would include client satisfaction, adoption of workflow process, outbound activities, among others
  • Any other duties as reasonably requested.

Who you are

  • 5 - 10 years of experience in a fast-paced sales organization at an ad tech, digital, or e-commerce environment.  We are in hyper-growth mode, and things change quickly. Flexibility and comfort with ambiguity is essential.
  • Track record of success in consultative and solution selling. We’re looking for people who are goal-driven and have proven ability to identify and pursue sales opportunities through relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and project management skills.  Identifies customer issues; applies strong listening skills with understanding of the Trade program to arrive at viable solutions. Outstanding multi-tasking and follow-through skills.
  • Innovative and a self-starter. Constantly seeking ways to build relationships and improve processes, and then taking action to make it happen.
  • Collaborative team player. This role works across multiple functions, and the ideal person will be able to leverage others to arrive at answers.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce.com and other computer skills. Microsoft suite; internet browsers/search engines, advanced Excel/Access experience.  
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about design a plus
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.  Conveys information in a clear and concise manner; ask appropriate probing questions; diplomatic in the face of resistance and objections
  • Bachelors’ degree
