About The Opportunity

At Grubhub, we create connections between hardworking and busy diners and the restaurants that want to reach them. Join a passionate and skilled team that is driven by a mission to bring easy, delightful food ordering and delivery experiences to millions of people every day. As a leader in our Product team, you’ll use every tool in your UX research toolbox - quantitative and qualitative research methods, analytics interpretation, and human-centered design thinking - to shape the future of food ordering experiences.

Who you are

You understand that research is the bridge between the user and the team that solves problems. That good product requires a constant feedback loop between data signals and human inquiry to bring insight. You know that best research teams are a bridge between the product, design and tech organizations, and are constantly advocating for the customer in everything they do. You can balance and adapt research to an agile environment. You understand that user experience is everyone’s responsibility and bring a considerable set of tools to help build the best-in-class products.

Some Challenges You’ll Tackle
What you can do for us
  • Lead and grow a team of UX researchers in our NYC office
  • Partner with Consumer Insights Researchers, Product Design Managers, Product Managers, and Tech Leads to drive all stages of research from early product direction through summative validation in an Agile work environment
  • Lead prioritization about what we research, when to research it, and how that research is conducted
  • Influence a diverse set of stakeholders through excellent relationship building, and crisply providing insight and deep domain expertise in research practices and product development
  • Put the needs of our varied set of users front and center and driving, through influence and well-constructed presentations of insights, the user experience strategy of our many products
  • As VOC, effectively challenge and elevate the customer experience in a data driven environment
  • Be an ambassador for the craft and practice of research at Grubhub, through all departments
You Should Have
What we expect you to have
  • 7+ years of experience conducting applied product research (preferably for digital products) and managing teams of researchers (at a variety of stages of their careers)
  • Proven ability to identify and execute creative and effective user research approaches
  • Experience with a broad set of qualitative and user-centered research methods: contextual inquiry and ethnographic field studies, one-on-one interviews, focus groups, usability testing, concept testing, competitive assessment, diary studies, etc.
  • Preferred additional experience: remote moderated testing; online qualitative tools; survey design; A/B testing
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills and ability to multitask multiple projects at a time
  • Comfortable working both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced, quick turnaround environment
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred in research, psychology, social science or a related field
