Reporting to the President and acting CEO, and serving as a key member of Knewton’s senior leadership team, the Vice President of Marketing is responsible for managing cause-driven, integrated marketing strategies in support of Knewton’s revenue targets. This innovative leader needs to balance creative, big ideas with proven traffic and sales-driving strategies.
The VP will leverage his/her team to align the marketing and communications outreach with Knewton’s overall strategic plan and provide ongoing leadership in managing our marketing and communications. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of traditional and digital marketing and promotion, media and public relations, corporate communications; digital publication development, website content management, social media amplification, and all marketing related functions.
What you'll do...
  • Develop, oversee and manage the strategic go-to-market plans to shake-up the traditional sales channels and support Knewton’s vision, mission and brand
  • Create and own communication artifacts that are responsible for educating our market about Knewton value proposition
  • Work closely with Sales, Product and Content teams to execute on our growth roadmap
  • Develop, implement, align and manage media partnerships and other cross-promotion opportunities to attract Universities and Professors
  • Produce innovative membership retention and acquisition campaigns utilizing creative tactics and strategies to promote the engagement of new and returning members
  • Own Knewton’s website as a primary external and internal vehicle for driving general industry traffic, engaging customers, disseminating news and conveying Knewton’s mission and purpose
  • Maintain and provide a high level of leadership and expertise to ensure brand integrity and consistency
  • Lead and manage publicity efforts by maintaining and developing positive media relations with editors, staff writers, bloggers, columnists, freelance writers, reporters, segment producers and other members of the press
  • Develop and craft press releases, pitches, media alerts, Q&A's, canned items, feature stories, corporate statements and other media information and editorial content
You'll need...
  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred
  • 15+ years in equivalent experience in marketing and communications
  • Experience in the technology startup world
  • Internet/social media guru
  • True team player with unquestionable integrity and unwillingness to settle for anything less than excellence
  • Fluency in cutting edge marketing technologies including Salesforce, Google Analytics and email service providers
  • Experience designing and executing successful lead generation and conversion campaigns utilizing email, paid search, SEO and social tools
  • Ability to work closely with Product and Technology teams to execute growth roadmap and solve problems
  • Solid track record of creating, motivating and developing high-performance teams
  • Experience developing a brand architecture for a company with multiple lines of business and products, whether a startup or larger entity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
