Thrillist is seeking a Video Analyst to join a growing team. This job will be focused around optimizing our video performance on our two key video distribution platforms: Facebook and YouTube. The right person will be able to compile and analyze video data across Facebook and YouTube and deliver relevant interpretations, reports, recommendations, and strategies to the video content creation teams and other key business stakeholders. He/she will also be responsible for optimization of our channel management on YouTube, to ensure that our content is discovered and viewed by as wide an audience as possible. He/she will use metrics, data and insights to “tell a story” that successfully depicts, trends, opportunities and problems with all our distributed video, to successfully raise the floor on our video performance, as an integral stakeholder in our audience engagement feedback loop.

Responsibilities:

  • Create regular reporting built around our video KPI for senior management, video, and distribution to track company and team performances, as well as inform future content creation
  • Run analysis and reporting on effectiveness of video content initiatives across Facebook and YouTube
  • Track and analyze user video consumption behavior across Facebook and YouTube
  • Make recommendations to video and distribution team members on how to improve performance and maximize KPIs
  • Work with the Senior Digital Analyst to identify and recommend appropriate tools & services to help improve key video KPI
  • Parse data and define actionable insights from large data sets that are pulled from the platform API and insight tools
  • Build and maintain a deep understanding and knowledge of how the video team within Thrillist operates, what drives their KPIs and goals, in order to provide on-going recommendations, tactical plans, and presentations
  • Provide metadata, captions, annotations and tagging for all YouTube videos prior to video launch
  • Work with video team to create video titles baked in best practices from past performance
  • Oversee YouTube Community Management
  • Work with social designer and video team to create and optimize YouTube thumbnails, banners and channel art to improve video and channel discoverability
  • Use data and research to inform partnership and video teams on collaboration opportunities to drive subscriber growth

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of quantitative analytics experience in a media environment
  • 2+ years experience working with YouTube and Facebook
  • Proficient with Google Analytics and/or other web analytics tools
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills including a strong understanding of media/content metrics, data sources, etc
  • Proficient with Excel or Google Sheets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with individuals at both peer and management levels
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment that requires multitasking, prioritizing and implementing high priority initiatives
  • Strategic acumen coupled with attention to detail and the ability to audit own work
  • Strong ability to describe and present data to non-technical audiences, including trends, projections, and insights
