Staff Accountant Intern

We want an intern who is passionate about Accounting and Tax.
The Accounting/Tax intern will spend ~2 weeks in each area (General Accounting, Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable, Revenue Recognition, Billing & Collections, Fixed Assets and Capitalized Software and Tax assisting with day-to-day activities. The intern will develop an understanding of each area including primary responsibilities and the types of activities required of a public company to produce accurate financial reporting in conjunction with strong internal controls and in compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. The Intern will build impactful working relationships working cross-functionally to gain a strong understanding of these financial transactions.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations as part of the month-end close process.
- Assist with the preparation of analytical reviews for assigned areas.
- Gain an understanding of the consolidation process and financial statement and disclosure preparation to support the quarterly reviews in compliance with SEC reporting.
- Invoice processing of our accounts payable function by reviewing vendor invoices and ensuring proper classification to the appropriate general ledger accounts and department codes, as well as completing the invoice match portion of our 3-way match process.
- Obtain an understanding of the Order-to-Cash process including revenue recognition, billing, and collections.
- Process fixed asset additions, transfers, reclassifications, disposals, and informational changes for fixed asset accounting records.
- Assist with accounting processes related to capitalized costs for internally-developed software including consolidating timesheets, reviewing inputs, and recording additions.
- Working with the Tax team to process transactions for income and indirect compliance.
What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Tax.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- High energy level with the ability to take ownership and show initiative in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Ability to quickly identify challenges, prioritize, analyze the root causes, seek to understand the rationale behind current processes, and propose solutions while getting buy-in from key stakeholders.

*The compensation for this role will be $1300/week
