T.G.I. Fridays, the casual Americana eatery that staked their very name on the concept of the workweek ending, is getting into the coworking game. Yup, you read that right.
The restaurant perhaps best known for serving BBQ favorites smothered in Jack Daniel’s-branded syrup, is hosting a Fridays Office coworking space at their newly revamped Forest Hills location. That entire location has recently been redesigned to accommodate a modern, millennial clientele that prefers hanging out with a computer to being served by employees covered in flair.
The restaurant now features wifi and tables with computer ports. There’s an open hangout area with armchairs and couches where you can dine or drink what Fridays is billing as "premium coffee." There is even a grab-and-go section selling premade sandwiches and snack boxes.
If all this sounds a lot like a fast casual restaurant, that’s because it is. Restaurants like Applebee’s and Fridays have been losing ground to fast casual chains like Chipotle and Panera. The new Forest Hills renovations are undoubtedly a reboot of the brand in the hopes of appealing to a younger clientele.
The Forest Hills location is not the only location to be redone with the modern millennial in mind, and a location in Corpus Christi, Texas recently underwent a similar renovation. That location, as well as the Forest Hills location went so far as to host late-night lip-sync battles and live music (pictured above).
If you should so choose to make the journey out to Forest Hills, you can now work from an armchair while shoving an unlimited portion of mozzarella sticks down your gullet. Just the environment millennials have been searching for.
