Jumpstart your job search: 5 NYC tech companies hiring right now

February 2, 2017

Are you feeling like your job search could use a jolt of energy? We get it, the job search can be a grind. But, you're in luck, and some of New York's fastest growing, most dynamic tech companies are on a hunt for new talent. Without further ado, here are five tech companies that are hiring like mad.

What they do: You mostly likely already know what Meetup does — you may have even been to one. But, if you don’t, Meetup is the wildly popular platform designed to bring people together in the flesh.

Why you want to work there: When you bring people together with similar passions, you never know what can happen. You’ll almost certainly never get credit, but you can go to sleep knowing that your work is helping other people do incredible things together.

Coolest perks: You’ll get good insurance, a smartphone reimbursement, summer Fridays, and a sweet rooftop deck on top of a pet-friendly office.

What they do: Bluecore runs a marketing automation platform that turns tons of existing data into behavioral and predictive audiences for brands.

Why you want to work there: Their number one value is ‘subjugation of ego,’ and if they detect any sort of ego during the interview process, that’ll be the last you hear from them.

Coolest perks: In addition to all the normal stuff like full medical, dental and vision benefits and a 401(k), you’ll also enjoy stuff like a monthly fitness stipend, tons of free food, a free monthly subway card and a super-relaxed office.

What they do: Group Nine Media is a partnership of between four big digital-first media companies. That includes Thrillist, NowThis, The Dodo and Seeker, which together boast over 4 billion video views every month.

Why you want to work there: If you’ve ever been interested in working in media, this is a great time to get involved. Besides, 4 billion views of anything can have a lot of impact.

Coolest perks: You’ll get Summer Fridays, free food and drinks, good insurance and you can bring Fido to work with you.

What they do: Payfone makes a non-intrusive verification system that uses your mobile phone to provide protection for consumers and companies.

Why you want to work there: The company is in full-on growth mode — get in now and ride (and hopefully help steer) that ship to the top.

Coolest perks: You'll get health, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k), stock options and lots of snacks.

Note from an insider: "At Payfone we made a contrarian bet that the way in which mobile phones instantly authenticated themselves would solve fundamental issues with trust on the web.  We are proving this thesis by authenticating 10,000,000 transactions per day for Tier 1 US banks. Join us to create software, algorithms and solutions that address one of the most pressing issues with the digital economy." — Rodger Desai, CEO

What they do: LeagueApps makes a platform for community sports leagues. It handles just about anything a league would need to do — from messaging to scheduling to reporting.

Why you want to work there: Sports are an excellent way to keep our tickers ticking. So, even if you’re not doctor material, you will have the power to motivate people to move more. Chances are, you’ll also get invited to play in quite a few leagues yourself.

Coolest perks: You’ll get all the important stuff, like health benefits, equity grants and a good salary. But the coolest perk is that the company will pay for your sports league.

Note from an insider: "Like a championship team, we are filled with role players who aren't afraid to dive on the court or field to get the job done. We're committed to bringing in people who embody the same values that we borrow from the best sports teams on the planet: play to win as a team." — Cory Zablow, Recruiting & Talent Manager
