5 NYC tech events you can't miss this week

Open Source Workshop @McKinsey Digital Labs, March 28th at 6:30 p.m.

If you’re looking to make an open source contribution, this WWCode NYC intro to Git, GitHub and Open Source will provide you with all the details you need. Everyone from beginners to the very advanced are welcome to come and contribute. 

 

Improv(e) Yourself: Improvisation for Public Speaking, March 28th at 7 p.m.

According to the organizers, at least, public speaking is more feared than death. This event will use improv to help anxious public speakers through their fears. You’ll learn how to be have more self awareness when presenting, as well as how to become more flexible, present and focused on stage. 

 

Intellectual Property Enforcement and Defense for Startups, March 29th at 6 p.m.

Whether you’re trying to protect your intellectual property or you're receiving a cease and desist for infringing on someone else’s, knowing the law is important. This event will walk you through the basics of enforcement and defense of intellectual property. 

 

Inside the On-Demand Economy, March 29th at 6 p.m.

General Assembly has assembled some of the biggest names in the on-demand economy to offer an inside look at the industry. Presenters from Handy, Lyft, Postmates, Luxe and Breather will hold a fireside chat, followed by some networking. 

 

NYC’s Biggest Tech Networking Mixer, April 4 at 6:30 p.m.

This is billed as the city’s largest networking event for entrepreneurs, startups and business professionals. Bring your business cards, put on something that can pass as business casual, and have a drink with a ton of people from NYC tech.
