Get to know the 9 startups from the New York Fashion Tech Lab

New York City is home to some of the most prominent fashion houses in the world: Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Diane Von Furstenberg, and the list goes on. Just as these fashion leaders are innovating with fabric, companies emerging out of the New York Fashion Tech Lab (NYFTL) are innovating with code.

For the fifth year running, the NYFTL incubator has produced a class of cutting edge, women-led startups. We’ve rounded up all nine future fashion leaders for you below.

What they do: Howl brings artificial intelligence into the world of digital marketing by incorporating smart advertising into the world of digital content. This combination boosts revenue and visibility for advertisers, and helps put an end to out-of-date and broken links.

What they do: Cherry Pick helps brands turn social media comments into valuable, real-time consumer insights. This buying data helps brands deliver the products their customers truly want.

What they do: EON is working to bring digital connectivity and transparency to clothing manufacturers. By imbuing each item with a “Digital-ID”, EON helps companies understand and therefore improve the life cycle of their products, from retail to recycling.

What they do: Find Me A Shoe is a mobile based app that allows users to take photographs of their foot, which are then digitally analyzed and used to provide customized footwear recommendations that maximize both comfort and style.

What they do: Linc helps companies build tangible, meaningful relationships with their consumers by providing rapid and intelligent customer support on the customer’s platform of choice (Alexa, Facebook Messenger, email and more).

What they do: Headliner Labs builds automated chatbots whose robust algorithms allow them to provide intelligent customer support for a variety of consumer brands.

What they do: Shimmy is helping apparel brands bring their workflows into the 21st century with AI-based software that operates within the cloud. The company’s aim is to streamline current processes while also laying the foundation for the next wave of fashion design technology.

What they do: EverThread enables retailers of clothing, furniture and more to provide numerous views and color options of their products through visualization technology, as opposed to taking thousands of images.

What they do: Fashwell’s technology recognizes and tags both clothing and furniture across the internet, with the goal of “making every image instantly shoppable.” Fashwell powers visual search tools, outfit recommendations and more.
