NYC ranks No.1 for number of tech workers, No.2 for number of startups
As New Yorkers, we’re used to being number one on a lot of lists: bagel quality, median rat size, World Series Titles — the list goes on. Now, a new survey conducted by Forrester Research indicates that New York City is home to more tech talent than any other region in the country, with 333,000 tech workers currently employed. Plus-size fashion startup Dia&Co raises $40M Series C round
The “try before you buy” model has proven successful for fashion e-tailers in recent years, but the founders of Dia&Co couldn’t help but notice a serious lack of plus-size options. Now, Dia&Co offers a monthly subscription service for women sizes 14 and up. What’s more, the company just raised $40 million in its Series C funding round. Enterprise AI platform Aquant takes home $10M Series A funding
Founded in 2017, Aquant helps companies better understand and manage their data through the use of machine learning. Now, Aquant is taking home its Series A round to the tune of $10 million. Lightspeed Venture Partners led the round, with participation from World Trade Ventures, Silvertech Ventures and Angular Ventures. Funds will be used to expand both the company’s reach and scale its products. [FinSMEs]
Insurance tech firm Clyde scores $3M seed round
Earlier this week, insurance tech company Clyde announced the receipt of a $3 million seed round. Led by Red Sea Ventures, the round also received contributions from RRE Ventures, Expa, Starting Line and Rainfall Ventures, among others. The funding will be used to help Clyde scale, following their recent graduation from Techstars Chicago. Clyde’s business model helps retailers offer warranties to their customer base, increasing trust and improving customer experience. [VentureBeat]
ContentSquare moves into spacious One Penn Plaza office space
ContentSquare, the international ecommerce optimization firm, is taking up residence at a prestigious NYC address: According to a press release, the company will occupy 10,000 square feet at One Penn Plaza. The Midtown location, at the intersection of 33rd Street and 7th Avenue, is also home to offices for Siemens, Dell, Publicis Group and more.
