Hologram Sciences, a new tech company focused on providing personalized health and nutrition, announced Monday it has officially launched with a $100 million investment from Royal DSM.

The idea for Hologram Sciences came about when founder and CEO Ian Brady (who also co-founded fintech company SoFi) learned that his wife had been diagnosed with gestational diabetes for the third time. When he tried to find a personalized nutrition service to help, he came up empty, inspiring him to create a solution of his own.

Hologram Sciences aims to combine proven nutrition science with its “pioneering” AI-based technology and “habit-building” approach to create personalized health and nutrition solutions for various conditions. It starts with diagnostics, with the company developing a clear picture of each individual. Then, the company offers daily feedback, digital tools and access to its team of expert dietitians, who prescribe customized nutritional supplements.

Because it is backed by Royal DSM, a global leader in the nutrition space as a supplier of products like vitamins and carotenoids, Hologram Sciences says it is able to go beyond just smart recommendations. The company says it has access to “cutting edge” industry innovations, “high quality” ingredients and a team driven by science.

“We’re thrilled to fund a powerful, data-driven platform that’s fuzed with DSM’s capabilities and product resources,” Dimitri de Vreeze, a co-CEO at DSM, said in a statement. “With the help of key experts — including nutritionists, dietitians, scientists and advisors — Hologram Sciences will be taking personalized nutrition to a new level for consumers and DSM’s customers.”

Hologram Sciences’ first offerings will be focused on gut health, brain health and overall immunity to address the “current acute concern over the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” Brady said in a statement.

The company is also hiring, with several open tech positions available at its offices in Boston and NYC.

“We’re looking to bring mission-driven change to the wellness marketplace by recruiting a passionate team,” Hologram Sciences’ chief marketing officer Jess Graham said in a statement. “We want to create a world where Hologram Sciences products are the best in helping people live healthier lives.”
