There is just something about camping that seems to calm me down; it could be the fresh air or the lack of social media. But it most certainly is not the actual act of sleeping. Sleeping in a tent, on the hard ground, is never conducive of restful sleep. That is why Alex Shirely-Smith decided to make a radical change with how people camp.
“The original inspiration was Ewok Village from The Return of the Jedi” Alex reflected. Alex was transfixed with the idea of living in trees, and he eventually dedicated his life to making that a reality. He worked tireless from 2010 to build a flexible treehouse: one part tent, one part hammock, one part treehouse.
What resulted is the most remarkable form of camping imaginable. You sleep suspended by three seatbelt-grade ropes that are attached to three separate trees. The sleeping experience is that of a hammock that is stable and quiet roomy. This will be a necessity on my next camping trip!
