CLEAR is looking for a Java Engineer to join the Technology team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for building cutting-edge applications. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about technology, stays on top of the latest trends within the field, and loves to engage with the developer community.
We are looking for Software Engineers to work across our engineering teams to build web applications and backend systems that perform at scale. The ideal candidate is adept at writing robust, extensible, and efficient code and has a knack for solving complex problems with simple solutions. While our stack consists primarily of Python on the backend and React on the frontend, we see technology as a means to solving problems and getting things done and thus prioritize talent over existing skillset. We heavily leverage many of Google Cloud hosted infrastructure services including Google App Engine, BigQuery, and Cloud SQL. Our culture emphasizes making good tradeoffs, working as a team, and leaving your ego at the door.
As a software engineer, you will work across the organization and use technology to inform our decisions and bring this vision to life. We must create innovative products that will push the boundaries of traditional thinking in urban environments while protecting user privacy and security. This will involve solving complex computational problems, dealing with messy sources of data, and building systems which scale.
Our software engineers are utility players who will support different product areas. You will work across software and hardware, and develop deep partnerships with our UX designers, product managers, and subject matter experts (e.g. architecture, housing affordability, mobility) to deliver products to unlock the true potential of a place. You will travel to Toronto to listen, learn, and partner directly with the community in conjunction with the Sidewalk Toronto project. This is not a standard software engineering position.
Work closely with designers, product managers, and other engineers to build features and improvements.
Build APIs and back-end systems.
Interface directly with our PostgreSQL cluster.
Maintain security, performance and scalability.
Figure out how to handle large traffic surges, especially during high-profile influencer campaigns. E.g., Lil'Yachty has over 7 million followers on Instagram alone and directed a large percentage of them to us during his influencer sale.
Solve challenges in: architecture, fraud and security, personalization optimization, payments and more.
Help power and ensure our financial and transactional systems are always online, and humming.
QA and code review other engineer’s work.
Keep up with the latest development trends in server-side technologies.
At CB Insights, we build software that helps predict trends using data.
As a Software Engineer at CB Insights you will be part of a self-motivated team that uses state-of-the-art technologies, writing quality code that ships often.
