Working alongside our Quality Control & Innovation Architect, the Lead Architect will be charged with managing the design of our new office spaces from start to finish. S/he will help shape the direction of Knotel’s physical spaces throughout New York City. Knotel’s team embraces curiosity, integrity, hospitality and tenacious problem-solving, and the Lead Architect will contribute to this culture while pushing us to innovate and do our best work.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee and review all drawings and documentation to ensure that they are code compliant and filed accordingly
- Manage internal team of project architects throughout the design build-out and fit-out phases
- Act as internal liaison between project interior designers and project managers to ensure client needs are met on time and within budget
Who You Are
You are a master of the architectural design process - from drafting and schematic design to reviewing building code compliance and filing. You’re a leader on all fronts, and you aren’t afraid to dive into details as you maintain a big-picture view. You maintain exceptionally high standards for your work and environment, always looking for better ways of doing things. You have a knack for saving time and money by utilizing your knowledge of project budgeting and scheduling. Beyond your technical expertise, you’re passionate about the evolution of workspaces and want to leverage your design expertise to innovate on how we create beautiful culture-coded spaces that meet the unique needs of our members. You thrive in environments where you’re expected to come up with solutions on the fly and can handle any issues that come up along a project lifecycle without losing sight of the end goal. You also have the following:
- A Bachelors in Architecture or Masters in Architecture
- 8+ years experience managing the design/build process in addition to proven experience managing a rapidly growing team
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in Schematic design, Design Development, Permitting, and Construction Documentation
- Ability to solve and manage any issues that may arise during the entire project, from the signing of a lease to the new opening.
- Excellent proficiency in AutoCad, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite
- Proficiency in general digital design tools
