Associate Content Marketer
Codecademy has helped over 45 million people learn to code. Join one of the most exciting technology companies in New York that is changing the way we learn.
Millennials are highly-educated, tech-literate, and looking to make an impact. Yet seven years after the great recession ended, nearly half of young university grads are underemployed, meaning they aren’t working jobs that require a degree. And the situation has only recently begun to improve. This year US students will graduate with $37,000 in debt, only to accept unpaid internships and part-time jobs.
Meanwhile, software is eating the world, disrupting media, publishing, and entertainment, and now food, transportation, and travel – creating millions of new technology jobs that companies are eager to fill. By 2020 there will be a shortage of 1 million more tech jobs than computer science grads. We can be the bridge. We can help this generation gain the skill to fill these jobs and enjoy happier, more fulfilling careers. Join us.
Are you an imaginative, inventive storyteller who wants to impact millions of people? Do you think strategically to find the contrarian or unique point of view? Are you passionate about our mission? As our Associate Content Marketer, you'll exercise your full range of strategic, analytical, and creative skills to help thousands of learners every single day.
What You'll Do
- Write. Beautifully and copiously. You’ll tag team with our Content Strategist, Biz Dev, and Product teams as well as partners and press to craft content that enchants and inspires.
- Promote your work. After crafting something brilliant, you will get it out into the world, and you'll ensure that people see it. You may not call yourself a "growth hacker" but you can wear that hat with aplomb.
- Dive into multimedia. You know that good content doesn’t just mean blogging. We’re looking for someone who has experience or is ready to dive into video and multimedia as well, making and disseminating phenomenal content across all our communication channels.
- Grammar Police. You sweat the small stuff. You know the differences between AP style, MLA, and what’s common on the web. You likely have strong opinions on the Oxford comma. You’ll be the final set of eyes before we send something to 45MM people. No pressure.
- Executing Social Media. You can make a piece of content and turn it into multiple posts for social media – including but not limited to our Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. You understand what differentiates these audiences and how to best engage on each platform. You will be Codecademy on our social channels, conversing with our audience to give us an active, participatory presence online. You'll think strategically about how to improve our brand presence on social media, execute on those plans, measure their results, and iterate.
What You Need
- First and foremost, a gifted and innovative creator & writer who can make content that truly grabs the attention and inspires people.
- 2+ years of consumer marketing experience in content marketing or communications.
- A portfolio of work samples.
- Even if you’re an editor now, you’re ready to become a content marketer that not only writes but promotes their work.

You'll use your research skills and your Codecademy network to learn quickly about dense topics, then distill that knowledge for our audience.
- Codecademy is a small team with a big brand and even bigger dreams. On the marketing team each of us have our specialties, but we are happy to wear other hats.
