We’re looking for a highly-organized project manager to support our growing roster of commercial and benefit auctions on Artsy.

Artsy Auctions aims to be the online platform for fostering the next generation of collectors by providing a beautifully designed bidding experience and making artworks from auctions around the globe accessible to anyone with an internet connection. As an Auctions Liaison, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day relationships with our auction house and nonprofit partners, and ensuring a smooth experience for listing their sales on Artsy. Responsibilities include managing communications to our partners, creating and executing timelines for launching auction pages and related content for our website, uploading artwork metadata and images, and organizing Artsy’s technological integration into auction events, which includes clerking and bidding in auctions on behalf of Artsy’s collectors and managing event execution at annual fundraising events for benefit auction partners. This is a highly collaborative role, requiring the Auctions Liaison to collaborate internally with Partnerships, Collector Relations, and Engineering teams on advising partnership offerings, bidder monitoring, and auction products, and externally with our auctions partners to execute auction timelines. As an integral part of the team, the Auctions Liaison will have the unique opportunity to experience all facets of online auctions, from partnerships to product development, and get an inside view into the expanding online art market.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced work environment, is a collaborative and communicative self-starter with at least two year’s experience in project management in the art world or a related industry, and is a strategic thinker that is able to work calmly under pressure. This is a role that requires independently managing a large volume of digital content against time-sensitive deadlines, so proficiency in Excel and/or Google Sheets is required. The ability to travel to local, national, and international auctions and benefit events is preferred, and German, French, or Italian language skills are a plus.

Core Competencies

  • Hustle & Self-Motivation: Has a drive to succeed, can work independently, and is dedicated to finding creative solutions and helping out when there’s downtime
  • Calm Under Pressure: Has excelled under pressure and time-sensitive deadlines, is a problem solver, and and maintains a positive outlook in difficult situations
  • Communication & Collaboration: Has excellent verbal and written communications skills, would not shy away from asking questions, voicing his or her ideas, or asking for help in difficult situations
  • Honesty & Integrity: Dedicated to the truth, doesn't cut corners, and totally reliable with confidential info
  • Interest in Online Marketplaces: Has experience or interest in the commercial art world and has experience working with online sales and content management systems

ABOUT ARTSY

The art market is the last major consumer marketplace to come online and, with over $30B in commercial inventory, Artsy is the first company to aggregate the lion’s share of it onto a single platform. Artsy is also the first platform where virtually all the world’s major galleries, museums, fairs, and auction houses have listed inventory–from Sotheby’s contemporary sales to ancient relics in The Met’s permanent collection. Artsy’s platform is global. 70% of our partners are internationally based and our average transaction distance is over 3,000 miles, the highest of any platform on the Internet. Artsy is the largest art marketplace and most comprehensive art platform in the world–help us use that platform to manifest a world where art is as ubiquitous as music.

WHY ARTSY

We don’t see ourselves as a business with employees. We see ourselves as a community of people with a common purpose and common values.

As such, there are no specific work hours or policies, no pointless bureaucracy. We only care that you achieve inspiring results that are aligned with our shared purpose. And that you work with us to achieve those results in a way that is aligned with our shared values. We look for people who act like the CEO of their area of responsibility and collaborate with no ego in service of Artsy's mission.

WORKING AT ARTSY

In addition to our vision of “a world where art is as ubiquitous as music,” Artsy has five core values that will inform your experience working with us:

Art x Science: We believe in the value of both logic and intuition, data and emotion, in our communications, our design, our code, our decision making, and our people. We celebrate the magic that happens when the often separate worlds of art and science are brought together, and we look to create that magic in everything we do.

People are Paramount: At Artsy we believe in people. We spend an extraordinary amount of energy to find the best person in the world for a particular role, and accordingly we treat them like the CEO of that role once they are hired. This means there are no specific work hours, no pointless bureaucracy. You will have complete autonomy and responsibility. Artsy only cares that you achieve inspiring results in a way that is aligned with our values.

Quality Worthy of Art: We believe in creating an experience that is worthy of all the world’s art and the countless lifetimes of dedication that artists have committed to their craft. In recognition of this, we strive to go a step further than what is required in everything we do. We believe the best long term quality comes from rapidly shipping and iterating in the short term.

Positive Energy: We believe in being inclusive and focusing our energy on what makes us happy and excited as opposed to what we don’t like. We take ownership of our negative feelings and use them as opportunities for greater self-awareness. We believe in a positive, supportive, and collaborative culture.

Openness: We believe in getting out of our comfort zone in order to be more open with each other whether that means sharing positive encouragement, critical feedback, or simply sharing our emotions and feelings as they arise. We are also open to receiving feedback no matter how painful it is to hear. We believe in manifesting a more open world where more people have access to art, and can express themselves and connect with others through art.

Artsy is an equal opportunity employer. We value a diverse workforce and an inclusive culture. We encourage applications from all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, marital status, disability, and veteran status.
