VICE.com is seeking an associate editor with a focus on lifestyle and culture to join its editorial team in Brooklyn. The editor should be well-versed in all aspects of lifestyle and culture, and will be expected to assign and write daily articles on a variety of topics falling under those umbrellas, including but not limited to: entertainment, internet culture, sexuality and dating, and identity. The successful candidate will be comfortable writing quick blog posts commenting on relevant news of the day as well as working on longer-lead pieces with original reporting.

 Primary duties:

  • Assigning, editing, and writing articles for VICE.com
  • Publishing between 2 and 4 articles to the site daily
  • Establishing a network of freelancers specific to the lifestyle and culture beat
  • Working closely with other senior editors and team members to help define the culture and lifestyle section
  • Participating in editorial meetings and helping to come up with new formats and franchises

Experience:

  • 2 + years as an editor or writer at a major media outlet
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to quickly identify and execute stories that fit within the VICE brand
  • Team player who enjoys working with others but is also a driven self-starter
