ABOUT THE TEAM AND ROLE

theSkimm makes it easier to be smarter. We are redefining how to build products that fit into routines, and we take a user-centric, collaborative approach while doing so. theSkimm started as two friends on a couch and have since purchased more couches and gotten new friends, er... employees. theSkimm is looking to hire a Brand Content Editor to communicate theSkimm’s mission to our audience in multiple formats. Reporting to the Managing Editor of Branded Content, you’ll work closely with the sales team to execute branded campaigns in theSkimm’s unique voice. theSkimm’s voice is one of the things that sets us apart — you’ll be a guardian of that voice, and a big part of maintaining it throughout our sales partnerships and marketing initiatives.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Craft copy for native ads and conceptualize branded partnerships with both upstarts and Fortune 500 companies
  • Work closely with the sales team on potential campaigns, while serving as a liason to protect theSkimm’s editorial voice
  • Work with a cross-functional team of sales, marketing, editorial and product to draft copy and bring theSkimm to life in other branded extensions (think: Skimm Reads, Skimm Wine, live events, product recommendation guides, and more)
  • Support the marketing team on an ad-hoc basis, drafting copy for product features, such as user experience testing, email and blog posts for product launches, and other initiatives

WHAT WOULD SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS

  • 3-5 years of experience working in copywriting or in a marketing role, preferably at a media company.
  • Track record of working effectively under deadline/pressure
  • Ability to write in the voice of a character
  • Passionate about theSkimm and its mission
  • A self-starter AND a team player
  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Comfortable publishing in WordPress
