Amplify is developing a new K-12 math curriculum that is (1) consistent with a student-centered, problem based pedagogical philosophy, (2) supports students and teachers in developing positive math identities, (3) demonstrates the utility, power, and beauty of math, (4) builds inclusive classroom communities that celebrate diversity, and (5) assists educators in orchestrating productive mathematical discussions.
The Curriculum Developer (CD) will work closely with the Managing Editors, Lead and fellow CDs to author the print components of the Amplify Math curriculum, while also reviewing digital content and collaborating with other teams (e.g., Product, Design, Editorial, Graphing, etc.).
***This is a contract position for an approximated period of twelve months beginning in January 2022
Responsibilities of the Curriculum Developer

  • Write student-facing and teacher-facing math content (lessons, practice questions, projects, etc.) for print math environments for a specific grade level or grade band in K-5.
  • Meet weekly with the authoring team to give and receive feedback on content
  • Peer-edit manuscripts with fellow CDs and review print proofs.
  • Regularly check against errata trackers, making fixes to print components where appropriate.
  • Commitment to creating a representative, equitable curriculum that supports traditionally marginalized students.


Basic Qualifications of the Curriculum Developer

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience working either (1) in educational settings, with evidence of excellence in instruction at relevant age levels or (2) at a PK-12 curriculum publishing company, with a focus on elementary mathematics.
  • Understanding of the progression of common core standards relative to grade level bands.
  • When travel restrictions are lifted, able to travel (approx. 5%) to Amplify's New York Office Headquarters for occasional workshops


Preferred Qualifications of the Curriculum Developer

  • Graduate degree in early childhood education, elementary education, mathematics education, or similarly relevant subject area
  • Experience developing or implementing a problem-based curriculum
  • Experience supporting students with disabilities and English Language Learners
  • Proven experience working with diverse students
