Job Description:

Operates Proprietary Typesetting systems – DL (Datalogics), 3B2 and other desktop publishing platforms utilizing integrated software packages to complete varied assignments involving word processing, page layouts, the creation of charts, spreadsheets and computer graphics. Provides a high level of service to Customer Service and our Clients.  This is a second shift position with core hours being Monday – Friday 3:30pm-12:30am, extended hours, weekends and overtime is needed to meet the needs of our clients.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following but other duties may be assigned.

 

·         Reporting daily to the Typesetting Lead Operator

·         Works with the composition team to typeset financial, corporate, and legal documents with accuracy and in a timely manner

·         Inputs and edit financial and tabular material

·         Codes and/or modifies complex pages

·         Writes basic formats or adjust existing formats as necessary

·         Composes the file, read log files, understand complex errors, and fix coding

·         Tags, parses, and prints EDGAR-only jobs

·         Finalizes jobs, prepares EDGAR submission files per EFW notes, and controls in-house and QTA activity

·         Compiles complex EDGAR submission in EDGCOMP and transmits jobs to SEC

·         Adjusts pager coding to produce acceptable EDGAR output

·         Finals (completes) a job or proof cycle

·         Creates the different proof outputs, clean, blacklined, cumulative blacklined and compare proofs and uploads to the Merrill JMS system for Customer Service delivery to client

·         Follows best practices and policies

·         Ability to work with Job Management systems updating activity and hours on a project and daily basis

·         Attends meetings as required

·         Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, to include weekends, extended hours and overtime as the workflow dictates

·         Ability to travel

·         Performs other duties as assigned or requested

·         Provides back-up support to peers

·         Forecasts potential issues

 

·         Takes on special assignments / projects as requested

·         Provide training to more junior employees as requested

 

 

 

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Personal Attributes

·         Typesetting experience in 3B2, DL (Datalogics) or other code-driven platform and Apple Mac and Adobe InDesign required

·         Must be able to work under pressure to time-sensitive deadlines

·         Self-motivated and self- directed

·         Ability to work independently or as a part of a team

·         Good telephone etiquette

·         Good verbal & written communication skills

·         Ability to multi-task & modify plans as requirements change

·         Knowledge of composition & customer service processes and systems

·         Positive attitude

·         Ability to maintain a very good relationship with Customer Service

·         Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, to include weekends, extended hours and overtime as the workflow dictates

·         Must be multi-tasked and demonstrate an eagerness to tackle new projects and learn new skills

·         Ability to travel

 

Software/Computer Skills and Program Knowledge

 

·         PC skills & technical aptitude

·         Typesetting experience in 3B2 or Datalogics or other code-driven platform, required

·         Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Skills

·         Job Management System – preferred

·         Technical aptitude with utilized software

·         Mac and InDesign skills desirable

 

 

Education and Experience

·         High School Diploma or Equivalent

·         Minimum 3-5 years related work experience
