With over $100MM in funding raised to date, we’re now gearing up to expand nationally and looking for an exceptionally talented Director Menu Development to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a company that is reshaping an industry.

The C&I team is responsible for the development of our menu and bringing our meals and food products to market. Our current menu is made up of 30 SKUs, with one new meal launch and one meal removal each week. This menu management requires the analysis and prioritization of a number of company and cross-functional initiatives; as well as the ability to plan ahead with a meal development pipeline of over 80 steps and 3-6 month development time. We are seeking a customer-centric leader to manage both our menu strategy and the team responsible for creating our current meal portfolio.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee meal development from conceptualization to commercialization to post-launch quality assurance and customer satisfaction. This includes, but is not limited to, market research and industry trend analysis, ingredient sourcing and testing, consumer sensory evaluations, label and meal content development and photography.
  • Assess sometimes conflicting company needs to drive weekly menu management decisions.
  • Help drive the strategic design of our quarterly menus for executive sign-off; optimizing for customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, Food COGs, inventory management, seasonality, and menu marketability.
  • Oversee and improve on our current meal testing process.
  • Oversee our new Gold Standard operation, which includes partnerships with chefs, brand, influencers, market experts and vendors, in a process to drive innovation to our menu and deliver benchtop meal concepts to the development team.
  • Work with Brand and Consumer Insights to build a menu that supports product positioning, value propositioning and consumer needs.
  • Work cross-functionally with various departments, such as culinary, marketing, nutrition, product, CX, production, to support or drive menu related initiatives.
  • Perform a full range of leadership responsibilities which may include: interviewing, hiring, coaching and developing employees, driving performance management.
  • Stay abreast of the everchanging food and wellness landscape.
  • Become an expert in our customers’ taste and dietary preferences.
  • Work with Operations and tech to automate current processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in new product development, brand marketing, innovations or operations, preferably in the DTC environment.
  • Experience working in the food industry required, experience in a food manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Data-driven individual that can marry to art of culinary development and brand with the science of a DTC tech company; accustomed to quantified decision-making.
  • Natural business acumen; ability to see the bigger picture when balancing a number of conflicting business initiatives.
  • Experience managing a small team.
  • Inspirational leader who sets clear direction and knows how to get the best from people.
  • Passionate about food and wellness.
  • Talent for communicating, influencing, critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Have the ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment - skilled at planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing multiple projects and activities simultaneously.
