As the Birchbox Editor, Social & Content you have a passion for all things content and a natural ability to tell beauty stories within the social space. Working closely with marketing, copy and creative, you will be responsible for translating the Birchbox tone of voice for all social media, videos and online magazine articles. This role reports to the Director of Social + Content.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, briefing and delivery of the seasonal beauty education content lineup for Birchbox’s social media channels and magazine.
    • Create and forward-plan compelling beauty content (words, images and video assets) optimized for cross-platform channels and manage those projects end to end with the production studio.
  • Writing all content and post copy for social media channels.
  • Writing Birchbox magazine articles (using SEO best practice).
  • Drive video content ideas (primarily beauty tutorials) and write copy/scripts - shepherding copy from the ideation and concept stage through production and post-production.
  • Foster a strong and productive working relationship with Creative (particularly with the Production studio and the copy team). Bridging the gap between the studio and team.
  • Support the wider marketing function as a consultant to campaigns and material.
  • Own the relationship with Merch leads as the leading authority on the Birchbox beauty education perspective.
    • Regularly meeting with Merch leads to determine seasonal beauty stories and identify opportunities to cover key brands in organic ways.
    • Where relevant, involvement in brand meetings and supporting with pitches.
  • Report and interpret site analytics to inform future content-making decisions.

Requirements

  • 4-5 years of copywriting/editorial experience in a digital and social media environment.
  • Experience in the beauty industry a must - obsessed with finding new, interesting ways to tell beauty stories to a casual beauty consumer within social media & digital spaces.
  • Social video script writing a significant advantage.
  • Highly creative and a self-starter.
  • Strong organization and project management skills.
  • Well-versed in the digital world, including content marketing best practices (SEO).
  • People management & development.
  • Audience-focused - always working to put out work that resonates with the Birchbox audience.
  • A plus if comfortable on camera.
