Reporting directly to the VP of Marketing, the Editorial Director will be responsible for the editorial direction and creative vision for StashLearn and all editorial and educational content - on the web and within the app. StashLearn is Stash’s fantastic, one-of-a-kind education hub that seeks to simplify financial concepts and enable investing for all. You’ll be educating nearly 3 million Stash customers and millions more who want to change their financial lives and get smarter about their money.

This hire will be an advocate and evangelist, both internally and externally, for the education component of Stash’s core value proposition. He/she will lead a team as player-coach and should be relentlessly passionate about educating and engaging consumers, seamlessly flexing between planning and executing and laser-focused on leveraging content to drive results.

What you’ll do:

  • Own StashLearn content on web and in the app 
  • Steward the educational voice of StashLearn and related in-app content with the goal of reinforcing The Stash Way in a simplified manner
  • Collaborate with our SEO and Optimization lead on overall content strategy to drive KPIs (reach and conversion)
  • Oversee editorial calendars driving content direction and tactical execution
  • Create and oversee editorial best practices
  • Ideate and develop tentpole content based campaigns
  • Assign and approve all editorial copy
  • Write and edit content, sometimes ghost write
  • Align with other marketing leads on content to support campaigns, launches, and product releases
  • Manage team of in-house content creators and external freelancers
  • Own creative direction of podcast
  • Evangelize Stash mission and content internally and externally
  • Serve as Content Lead within cross functional teams and projects to elevate the Stash Learn experience and amplify its impact, in accordance with company KPIs
  • Leverage data to optimize content production and programming decision making

What we're looking for:

  • 7+ years of experience directing editorial for a consumer finance publication, brand, or vertical
  • Strong leadership skills; Team management and development
  • Deep understanding of personal finance, basic investing, and how to write and edit for a consumer-facing audience
  • Proven track record of strategic editorial vision and direction
  • Experience creating, enhancing, and enforcing editorial voice to build a powerful brand
  • Proven track record of effectively using content to launch campaigns and products
  • Ability to leverage data to test and improve outcomes
  • Knowledge of SEO and organic strategies, tactics, and fundamentals
  • Ability to work cross functionally (Product, Marketing, Optimization, Creative, PR, Compliance)
  • Knowledge of content distribution and syndication
  • Seasoned public speaker and comfortable as a public facing evangelist for the brand
  • Team player whose flexible and wants to work in a fast paced collaborative environment
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Passion for making finance relatable for beginners
