Buzzfeed Video is looking for an exceptional Equipment Resident to bring their production and organizational skills to our Production & Equipment Team. We are looking for a smart, skilled, passionate self-starter to join our growing team. The position is based in our New York Office – a super collaborative work environment overflowing with perks ranging from snacks to social themed happy hours. This currently involves a 40-hour work week with a freelance contract.

You will:

• Run daily equipment check-out/check-in system with producers
• Assist with researching new camera, lighting, & sound equipment/technology
• Assist with testing equipment functionality
• Assist with maintenance and repairs on all studio & cage equipment
• Ensure that equipment inventory is up to date in online database
• Assist with placing orders for expendables
• Check and maintain standards and upkeep of studios and shooting stations
• Assist producers with physical production and provide shoot support and expertise
• Assist studio and equipment training classes for new hires, fellows, and producers
• Perform safety spot checks as needed
• Contribute to our ever-evolving range of duties and projects
• Process production & video expenses for accounting

You have:

• Ability to work in a high pressure, fast paced production environment
• Ability and willingness to establish rapport with creative teams and managers
• 2-3 years experience of on-set grip, gaff, camera, or sound experience
• Prefer 1-2 years experience in an equipment rental house environment
• Equipment service/maintenance experience a plus
• Ability to adapt to changes in production plans / schedules
• Strong familiarity with camera, lenses, audio and other production gear
• Highly organized, attention to detail and always solution-oriented
• Exhibit polished and timely written/verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift and move heavy equipment as needed
• Ability to work independently and with a team
• Demonstrates on set etiquette and proper procedure when assisting on set
• Ability to wear many hats on set while carrying out day to day job functions
• A passion for technology in an ever changing market
• A sense of humor and can do attitude will set you up for success
