Freelance Writer
Who we are
Justworks is an HR tech company that gives entrepreneurs and their teams access to benefits, payroll, and HR support. Every week, we speak to thousands of employees who are looking for help navigating important life events, such as paying off debt, getting married, starting a family, or buying a home.
We wanted to make this information more accessible for everyone, so we are creating a new content platform dedicated to helping the modern workforce feel empowered and in control.
What you’ll do
That’s where you come in. The freelance writer will help us build out “short courses” around key life events. You will translate complicated topics (think health insurance, personal budgeting, and investing) into approachable, helpful, and easy-to-consume content.
The courses will each be 7,000 - 9,000 words. We will provide you with comprehensive notes from interviews we have conducted, plus a high level syllabus. You will take the lead on online research and translate that information into understandable content written in our brand voice and tone. You will also identify opportunities for graphs, charts, and other visualizations to make the course more digestible, and work with a designer at Justworks to bring those to life. Finally, for each course, you will create landing page copy so we can promote the course and educate people on why they should sign-up.
This position will report to the Director of Brand, Content, and Communications, who will make sure you have the proper foundation in place (brand voice and tone, compliance guardrails) to be successful in this role. While this is a remote position, there may be times that it makes sense to come into the office for in-person meetings. We will try to keep these to a minimum to reduce travel time.
We are looking for a commitment of 20 hours/week for 6 months, with potential to continue on in a similar or reduced capacity.
Please submit a cover letter and resume along with two relevant writing samples.
