About the role

Seeking a Pre-press and Production Manager to work with three (3) ongoing comic book titles. Knowledge of comics production pipeline and interactive elements preferred. Duties include: tracking and trafficking digital art and lettering corrections; receive and send materials from/to creative talent and product manager. Assembling files for covers, letter pages, interior book pages, special projects and other related projects as assigned. Coordinating with Editorial, In-House resources, Creative Talent, Proofreaders, and Product Manager to achieve material due dates, ensuring all required approvals are achieved to meet the projects ship date. Room to grow projects and position.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create template for digital art specs and delivery
  • Work with Product Manager to determine specs for final files delivery
  • Responsible for the tracking/production of interiors, proofs, and samples, working with Editorial, Colorists, Marketing, and Product Manager to achieve all required approvals to assure correct line-up and maintain quality standards and schedules
  • Receive line art files, check specs, clean, template, and move on to server for next step
  • Make digital art and lettering corrections to all materials if necessary
  • Assist with assembling files for covers, letter pages, and interior book pages
  • Creating and checking of files convention for bonus materials, including NFTs, polls, and extra content
  • Inspect all color files used in the assigned titles for resolution and overall quality
  • Quality control proofs and samples and ensure comments and/or corrections by Editorial are made
  • Oversee final files delivery and successful approval with Product Manager
  • Troubleshoot and resolve all questions raised by Product Manager with regard to materials supplied
  • Create low-res digital files for Marketing purposes
  • Run weekly Production meeting to discuss status of projects
  • Work with the technology team and attend all meetings associated with workflow updates
  • Bring solutions or concerns to Editorial and Product Manager for evaluation as needed
  • Attend all related meetings as needed
  • Handle other duties as needed

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Related degree in accredited art school or equivalent work experience preferred
  • At least three years experience using digital workflow technology at a design service bureau, publisher, entertainment, or related environment required
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, required
  • Knowledge of Google Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign required
  • Knowledge of Mac-based peripheral devices required
  • Ability to successfully work in team environment and interact with other people required
  • Experience with project-management software required
  • Must have the ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple project elements simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational and follow-through skills required
  •  Basic knowledge of hand lettering and ability to make minor line art/color corrections as needed preferred
  • Familiarity with comic book art and general knowledge of comics preferred
  • Knowledge of Soft Proofing and of print production, InSite, and Smart Review a plus
