OVERVIEW

The Production Manager provides support to the Supervising Producer (SP) in executing the creative vision for VICE Labs short-form video shoots – ensuring that all productions are always efficiently developed, implemented and delivered on time and on budget.

This Production Manager plays a critical role in helping the VICE Labs team execute high quality creative work. This position should constantly seek new ways of improving process and workflow while providing the necessary day-to-day operational support that the team needs, remaining flexible and fluid to the fluctuating demands of each individual project.

PRODUCTION:

• Develop projected monthly filming schedule with SP; assign appropriate team members including production support and editors. 

• Monitor and assess departmental production processes and requests in correlation with workload; recommend the hiring of freelance support when needed. Recruit for and hire all freelance positions as requested by SP. 

• Manage employee time off, compensation days, freelance coverage, and weekly staff schedule with SP. 

• Help determine and implement best practices for production workflow and operations as directed by SP. 

• Manage multiple production schedules; communicate with the SP to provide status updates on production, operations, and workflow. 

• Manage and supervise coordinator in executing all shoot logistics including staffing, studio rentals, equipment rentals, expendable rentals, suggesting and securing shoot locations, transportation, meals, and travel/lodging. Create and distribute call sheets for all

• Maintain organizational system for VICE Labs equipment and manage VICELAND STUDIO schedule and operations.

• Must have knowledge of film permit rules and secure permits as needed.

• Must have knowledge of legal, insurance, and, general non-union industry standards/practices to support SP as needed.

BUDGET:

• Develop and manage multiple VICE Labs production budget (excluding staff positions salaries). 

• Manage and track all purchases as well as invoice processing, purchase orders, and petty cash for department upon the approval of the SP.

• Supervise reconciliation of p-card and petty cash; send monthly budget reports to the VP of Marketing.

• Manage, approve and track all staff expenses for reimbursement.

• Negotiate vendor, talent, and location contract rates for production.

• Review actualized budgets for tentpole projects with SP upon completion. 

COLLABORATION & PARTNERSHIPS: 

In partnership with the SP, serve as a liaison for VICE Labs in providing production support across departments; develop internal VICE relationships to maximize resources and growth opportunities.
