The Role

Newsela’s content could not exist without the work of almost two hundred freelance contributors, who adapt articles and create instructional activities according to our demanding guidelines. As we increase our contributor pool to support more content development, we need someone to support the facilitation of new projects, and design processes to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability. As the Content Operations Associate, you will own the day-to-day management and smooth operation of content projects. By setting and monitoring deadlines, tracking milestones and quality metrics, and managing budgets and new project rollouts, you will be a key player in scaling Newsela’s daily content production.

Why You’ll Love This Role

You will build relationships across Newsela’s Content, Customer Success, and Sales teams, and have the ability to inform exciting new process and operations that will help Newsela aggressively scale over the next couple of years. As a founding member of this Content Operations team, you will have the opportunity to grow this roll in several directions, and will gain valuable insight into a scaling content production process. While flexing your project management skills, you will help us meet the needs of teachers and students nationwide as we work to build collections to serve their direct needs in making teaching across subject areas engaging and accessible.

Why We’ll Love You

You are a proactive self-starter, and use your creative and strategic eye to help maximize content output. Efficiency is your middle name; you aren’t afraid to get into the weeds and use data to improve process through informed decisions. You have demonstrated attention to detail, brilliantly organized, and are able to seamlessly translate project needs, questions, and issues across teams to arrive at a timely solution. Ideally, you have a passion for education, literacy, and current events and may even have some experience in K-12 education or editorial work.
