ABOUT THIS ROLE
Our Audible Canadian service is looking for a Director, Content Acquisition who will be responsible for defining and executing the content acquisition strategy for spoken-word content and audio rights with content creators, agents, and publishers, to bolster the content offering that Audible provides its customers. With full strategic and deal ownership, as well as P&L responsibility for the Content Acquisition slate, the Director, Content Acquisition will be a key contributor to Audible Canadian service business growth and will participate in other Audible global development activities related to publisher relations, content acquisition, and content provider partnerships.
As Director, Content Acquisition, you will ...

  • Develop acquisition plans, financial metrics, and goals for senior management.
  • Establish, manage, and grow strong relationships and partnerships with Canadian content providers.
  • Identify and investigate new content provider partnership opportunities in light of strategic goals and develop unique and ambitious deal structures to meet those goals and grow Audible's content offerings.
  • Structure, negotiate and enter into new deals with content creators (e.g. writers, agents, publishers etc.), collaborating with Audible cross-functional teams including Legal and Finance. Manage relationships end to end.
  • Leverage internal analysis and monitor external trends to drive content acquisition and development decisions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams across all functional areas within Audible to execute content provider partnerships (e.g., marketing, public relations, finance, legal, etc.).
  • Prepare and deliver business reviews to senior leaders.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 7+ years' experience in Media & Entertainment, ideally focused on Canadian audiences (publishing, audio, Film/TV).
  • 7+ years' experience in the field of content dealmaking; this role requires a versatile, world-class, flexible and creative thought-leader mindset. Ability to evaluate and develop content opportunities in both English and French, negotiating license and/or business development agreements.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that are shaped by international experience and a broad interest of popular culture across all media types; able to modulate communication for internal and external needs.
  • JD or MBA.
  • Independent, entrepreneurial, passionate self-starter with a focus on delivery of excellence, a can-do attitude and a sense of urgency.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in cross-functional & international teams under aggressive deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills that drive excellent business decisions in a creative environment.
  • Ability to operate in a high-energy, high-intensity and rapidly evolving environment.
