Amplify is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to create and edit end-user documentation that engages educators and answers their questions about our products. You will work with our documentation team to develop new materials and to update existing projects. You'll join a small team but will have opportunities to work with and influence several cross-functional teams across Amplify. You'll have a chance to create new materials for teachers and administrators using our assessment and reporting products, create or copy edit materials developed by our curriculum product and support teams, and demonstrate your expertise with content management and development tools. The right candidate may also have an opportunity to work with systems that incorporate HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development.
Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of how Amplify's suite of educational products function to provide educators with tools for assessment, curriculum, and rostering
  • Use content development programs to create materials that teach educators how to use our software
  • Format and edit documents to promote clarity, accuracy, and Amplify style; manage document lifecycles efficiently and accurately, maintaining multiple versions as necessary
  • Create and edit graphics for materials using screen capture utilities and Adobe Photoshop
  • Tailor content for specific audiences with differing levels of technical sophistication, including teachers, systems administrators, and students
  • Work with content management systems, developers, and Quality Assurance (QA) to ensure proper integration, while demonstrating self-sufficiency in tracking down information and interacting with stakeholders
  • Meet regularly with product teams and foster communication among stakeholders to discuss project workflows, ensure correct grammar in designs and specifications, and promote consistency through product communications
  • Mentor junior team members in technical processes, Amplify culture, and team working relationships to help create a cohesive team dynamic


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in English, Journalism, or Communications
  • 4+ years developing end-user documentation (candidates are expected to provide writing samples)
  • 4+ years of experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop)
  • 4+ years of experience with MS Office, G Suite, Intercom, and similar tools
  • Familiarity with desktop, laptop, mobile, and tablet computers
  • Meticulous attention to detail, commitment to producing quality products, and the ability to set and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills along with the ability to work independently and collaborate with the team


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Adobe Robohelp, Madcap Flare, or similar online help authoring tools
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and git/GitHub
  • Familiarity with AWS services, including CodePipeline and S3

The gross salary range for this role is $60,000 - $75,000.
