ABOUT THE TEAM AND ROLE

theSkimm is hiring a full-time Social Media Producer to expand our brand presence and engage our audience across social media platforms. Reporting to our Director of Social Media, this role is responsible for bringing our content verticals (news, money, health, career, and lifestyle) to life on social, as well as helping to foster and grow our social community. 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• End-to-end production of social media content - including ideation, writing, fact-checking, asset creation, and posting 
• Posting across multiple social media channels, includes scheduling or actively posting on nights and weekends
• Keeping track of breaking news and leading the creation of all news posts and social news strategy
• Partnering with the editorial owners of money, health, career, and lifestyle to build out content and overall social strategy for each vertical 
• Engaging with our community and owning our community growth plan 
• Leading content strategy and creation for holidays and pre-planned news moments 
• Analyzing performance metrics of social content and making recommendations for how to iterate based on the data 

WHAT WOULD SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS

• 4-6 years of social media experience 
• You have a strong understanding of theSkimm’s brand and voice and can communicate its message with consistency
• You have worked in social media for a news & information, consumer, and/or emerging brand
• You have experience working with breaking news deadlines
• You have experience following a content calendar and using social content publishing tools
• You have experience such as graphic design, illustration, videography, and/or photography
