Overview

The Social Multimedia Producer conceive, shepherd and deliver content specifically made for social based on our two television shows, VICE News Tonight and VICE on HBO, and our website, news.vice.com. They must have a creative eye and an attention to how each piece of multimedia content is formatted to each platform. This position sets the tone for all visually based content delivered from social.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Embeds with the shortform video team and produces custom pieces for social.
  • Coordinates shoots for conceptual based social projects in the office and field. Makes sure all aspects of the shoot are correct.
  • Brainstorm and execute how the pieces will be delivered on social with the Director and team. Work to have these pieces shared in interest networks and the VICE Network.
  • Deliver analytics and pattern reports to the Director on the success and failure of each piece. Be willing to change up their direction at any time due to these learnings.
  • Assists in running social for our two television shows, VICE News Tonight and VICE on HBO, and our website, news.vice.com
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and decipher real-time analytics to push out relevant content on distributed platforms

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; newsroom experience a huge plus
  • 3-5 years experience in journalism, social media or newsroom experience at a major media company, television experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with Chartbeat, Google Analytics, Dataminr, YouTube Analytics, Twitter Analytics, Crowdtangle, Facebook Insights and reporting data from all platforms a plus
  • Familiarity with the VICE News, VICE News Tonight and VICE on HBO and brand voice
  • Innovative background, especially in regards to video, multimedia, visual and interactive media, and how these translate to engagement
  • Advanced understanding of Adobe Premiere and Photoshop a plus, video editing and scripting experience is a major plus
