Dotdash is seeking a Social Video Producer to join its video team. The Social Video Producer will produce short and mid-form social-first videos for distribution on Instagram, Youtube, TikTok, and Facebook. You’ll be a creative team player who has a passion for and understanding of video for social media platforms (particularly YouTube, Instagram and TikTok). You can develop clever ideas and you have the technical skills to bring ideas to life. As a Social Video Producer, you’ll be responsible for casting, creative development of video ideas, overseeing production (both remotely and in-person), producing edits, final asset delivery – and everything in between. The ideal Social Video Producer is super creative with a contemporary sense of style and aesthetics, superb storytelling skills, an organized master of pre-production, comfortable running a set, and proficient in Premiere. Proven experience producing videos for social media for digital publishers is a must.

About Your Contributions:

  • From brainstorming to on-schedule asset delivery, deliver videos that drive views and engagement on social media channels
  • Develop clever ways to illustrate video concepts. Own shooting and editing style for key video franchises.
  • Own pre-production, including research, casting/talent sourcing, scripting, crew, and location booking. Organize and coordinate shoots.
  • Research and write scripts; develop treatments, shot lists, and breakdowns
  • Produce shoots and direct talent
  • Deliver polished edits that illustrate a keen understanding of what works on social media; shift between editing, as needed, and overseeing editors
  • Develop a set of best practices across our social media channels and an understanding of our audiences; stay informed of video trends and use your findings to drive better production
  • Manage personal production queue, asset delivery, and upload across content management tools including Google Sheets, Airtable, and JIRA

About Your Role:

  • Extensive knowledge of producing and experience owning video projects from concept through delivery; experience working with and directing on-camera talent
  • 2-5 years experience producing professionally for a digital publisher in the lifestyle space; bonus points for experience creating home, food, and DIY videos
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere with a keen sense of pacing and style that has a social media sensibility; Photoshop proficiency a plus
  • Superb organizational skills; thorough and detail oriented while managing multiple projects
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced deadline-driven production environment; resourceful in every respect from digging up the perfect on-camera talent to swapping out a prop in a pinch
  • Master troubleshooter; foresee problems before they arise and seek fast creative solutions on the spot
  • Stellar written and verbal communicator; impressive visual storytelling skills

An Insider's view of Dotdash Meredith

What projects are you most excited about?

Atomic design is in our DNA at Dotdash. We're striving to have the dev and design teams work closer together and use a single source of truth for how components are pieced together using predefined molecules and atoms. This is exciting and innovative work that is helping us scale at an incredible rate and deliver on our promise of fastest sites!

Brian

Manager, Front-End Development

How do you empower your team to be more creative?

We do quite a few things to encourage creativity like hackathons, design sprints, and "Unconferences". That said, I think the most meaningful thing we do is to encourage teams to be autonomous. Having control and ownership over their respective applications gives our team members the freedom to explore ideas to solve their own problems.
