We are looking for a strong technical writer with hands-on experience and knowledge in making products successful with developers.  Our belief is that docs should be treated as a product and are central to not only a developer’s use of a product but also the product acquisition journey and a company’s developer cred. 

Your primary role will be creating high-quality content that empowers and accelerates a developer’s understanding of how to put mParticle to work as a part of their growth stack.  Your mission is to make mParticle’s docs the best of the best and recognized as such by developers and engineers.  This is your chance to build and be known for creating a documentation and content system that fuels mParticle’s growth and creates word of mouth in the developer community. 

Responsibilities:

• You will partner with engineers and product to write, review, and edit new and existing documentation
• Define standards and style guidelines that help other writers and engineers
• Establish efficient processes for maintaining and updating documentation on an ongoing basis
• Strategize on creative ways to make developers successful in their use of our products
• Analyze, gather feedback and research effectiveness and impact of documentation to identify opportunities for improvements in content and the doc system
• Own and create self-serve onboarding content for learning our technology
• Leverage work done on docs to produce other writing contributions including by not limited to how-to articles, white papers, guides, blog posts and FAQs
• Take initiative to improve the developer experience of mParticle’s products and features by trial-ing them in the doc writing process and channeling feedback to the product team
• Become a subject matter expert on the deployment and use of mParticle

Desired Experience and Skills:

• 5+ years of technical writing for developer-facing documentation
• BA/BS degree; someone with a Comp Sci degree and a passion for writing is our ideal candidate
• Comfortable around code and writing documentation for engineers
• Experience managing and publishing documentation to doc site
• Proven ability to organize and structure documents and content
• Track record in enforcing documentation standards and guidelines and driving best-practices
• Knowledge in treating and managing docs as a product
• Established ability to learn new technical concepts quickly
• Excellent communicator and facilitator
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
• Familiarity with Swift, Kotlin, and/or JavaScript a plus
• Light web-development skills and hands on coding experience a plus
