ABOUT THIS ROLE: As a growing SaaS company, we are looking to expand our Technical Writing Team. As a lead member of this team, you will help create industry-leading external-facing product documentation and technical blogs as well as work with engineering teams and many other stakeholders to ensure that we have up-to-date internal information about our platform available to our technical and non-technical team members.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Work very closely with technical and non-technical teams to understand the subject matter.
- Write and review internal and external documentation for a range of audiences from highly technical to non-technical.
- Create or update technical and entity relationship (ER) diagrams
- Create and update API documentation for a developer audience.
- Use a variety of tools - Confluence, a structured authoring tool, a diagramming tool, GitLab Pages, and Swagger and API documentation tools, etc. - based on the needs of the projects.
- Create or expand the use of tools that enable engineers to contribute content via their codebase and review the engineers’ related merge requests.
- Evangelize a culture of documentation across the organization, supported by better processes and tools.
- Enhance our team’s processes to enhance the quality, efficiency, and impact of what we deliver as a technical writing team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years experience in a role with a significant portion of time spent on technical writing.
- Breadth of experience including the following:
- 2+ years of experience in authoring content for a SaaS company’s external clients.
- 2+ years of experience working in an Agile development environment with a release frequency between 1 and 4 weeks.
- 2+ years of experience in leading or mentoring technical writers and working with other functions to create a culture of documentation.
- Exemplary communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and to hold self and others accountable towards shared goals.
- Highly detail-oriented, with the ability to translate detail into useful and easy-to-understand content for the target audience.
- Entrepreneurial minded and driven self-starter, with a natural curiosity and drive to learn, seek feedback, improve
- Experience with a majority of the following:
- Designing technical documents.
- Building frameworks for documentation across different layers of the tech stack.
- Understanding different paradigms of software and object/data model documentation.
- Modern web development architectural concepts and frameworks.
- Understanding object and data modeling.
- Understanding interface and data dictionary definitions.
- Deriving and documenting logic and interfaces based on requirements, reverse-engineering of code, and interviewing subject matter experts.
- You embody a team player mentality by modeling professional behavior, supporting a culture of collaboration and inclusion, while staying humble.
- You are intellectually curious, proactively seeking to learn new things and drive improvements.
- Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future
PREFERRED:
- 5 -10+ years experience in a role with a significant portion of time spent on technical writing.
- Experience as a programmer or experience with JS frameworks in a programmer or technical writer capacity.
- Experience working in a company going through significant growth and associated maturing of processes.
- Familiarity with insurance, financial services, or a similar industry.
- BA / BS in an engineering discipline or a technical writing program with computer science coursework.

Notice for Colorado applicants as required by the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act: Target annual salary for this role performed in Colorado is $115,000 + a target bonus of up to 100% of annual base salary + benefits (including medical, dental, vision, accident and life insurance, paid days off, 401(k), and education reimbursement).
