The Job
The US Markets Writer for CNN Business is responsible for reporting coverage of each day's most essential markets stories, delivering coverage of stocks, bonds, commodities, cryptocurrencies, ETFs and other markets news for CNN Business and the broader CNN audience and network. The ideal candidate must love business news, with a particular enthusiasm for covering and contextualizing investments, strategies and daily market movements.
The Daily
- Pitch and write breaking news stories about daily US market movements and the policies, corporate events, economics and decisionmakers driving assets higher or lower.
- Deliver fast and accurate stories in a real-time news environment.
- Report stories that explain complex market-moving information to a general business news audience.
- Write analytical pieces and in-depth stories about markets and investors.
- Be skeptical, but not cynical - be genuinely excited by the changes and disruptions occurring on Wall Street and beyond, but also ready to take a critical look at them.
The Essentials
- 3+ years of digital experience
- College degree or equivalent industry experience
- Strong editorial judgement, and knowledge of or passion for business and financial news
- Excellent writing and research skills
- Demonstrates leadership qualities
- Strong communication, team collaboration skills
- This position is required to work in person at one of our locations in the United States. WarnerMedia requires anyone working in our workplaces in the U.S. to be vaccinated against COVID-19. In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles that will be performed in New York City. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $77,840.00 - $144,560.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
