The Role

The Vice President of Curriculum and Instruction will oversee and develop a fast growing, evolving and high-performing team of 10+ instructional designers, curriculum specialists and assessment developers responsible for the creation of learning materials across Newsela’s suite of products. The goal of the VP, C&I is to lead the overall vision, strategy, and execution for Newsela to be the best solution for core curricula across multiple subjects and to meet the demands of statewide adoptions. The C&I team will lead the creation of learning materials across Newsela’s suite of products, taking third party content and instructionalizing for digital learning. Reporting to the Chief Content Officer, you will partner closely with the Editorial Director, Product Managers (ELA, Social Studies, Science and Social-Emotional Learning) and Project Managers to execute against Newsela’s ongoing Product Roadmap.

Why We’ll Love You

You have 10+ years of relevant experience including work in some or all of the following, ideally in more than one subject areas: educational publishing, instructional design, standards alignment, personalized learning, literacy development, curriculum mapping, assessment design and production. You’ve done the hard work of unpacking and interpreting learning standards. You’ve worked under deadline to produce polished, published instructional content that reaches broad K-12 audiences. You have set strategy and managed teams to deliver against winning statewide adoptions. Additionally, you have 5+ years of people management experience with a proven record of developing high-performing direct reports and have also been responsible for contracting vendors, consultants and subject matter experts.
