Video Producer
Overview
The New York Daily News video department is looking for a talented video producer to join our Emmy award-winning team. The producer will be responsible to creating breaking news videos for use on the New York Daily News website and social media platforms, as well as across the multiple brands within the tronc company. Those videos will cover national and local issues, ranging in topics from politics to entertainment, crime to lifestyle. Video producers will also work on developing original video content and long-form projects.
We are looking for a candidate who can communicate effectively, multitask and adapt to an ever-changing news environment. They must also be able to take direction, but also think on their feet and be self reliant. Comfort with multiple video editing platforms and equipment is essential, as well as having strong journalistic instincts and writing experience. Producers should also be familiar with content management systems used for publishing stories online.
Experience working with Motion or After Effects, and creating video animation and graphics, is a PLUS.
Responsibilities
Produce dynamic videos related to stories on the New York Daily News website and social media platforms, as well as national stories featured across the tronc network.
Monitor real-time analytics and exercise clear news judgement to develop relevant video content, and place them into stories.
Research, write, edit and create engaging videos in very tight deadlines.
Be able to work independently, as well as within a collaborative team, to produce video in the office and out in the field.
Qualifications
Experience with video editing platforms Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premiere
Experience with creating animated graphics with After Effects and/or Motion
Excellent communication skills, in person and in various formats (Slack, email, etc.)
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, depending on news events
1-3 years video experience
Prior journalism experience preferred
