Curriculum Designer (Backend Web Development)
Codecademy teaches over 25 million people around the world the skills they need to find jobs. We are looking for a talented Curriculum Designer to design web development courses for beginners, intermediate, and advanced learners. In this role you will determine the outcomes, scope, concepts, and technologies required for all Codecademy web development courses.

Skills required:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to simplify and explain complex topics;
- Deep understanding and experience with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, and SQL;
- Deep understanding and experience with test frameworks and test-driven development;
- Professional experience with Rails app deployment, performance improvement, refactoring, and applying design patterns;
- Deep understanding of software engineering concepts;
- 5+ years experience as a professional web developer;
You will be successful if:
- You can provide learners with both technical and industry guidance;
- You are familiar with the Codecademy platform and our courses;
- You have teaching experience as an instructor, mentor, tutor, or teaching assistant;
- You’re empathetic, enthusiastic, and patient with beginner learners, and are eager to teach the next generation of web developers;
What you'll do:
- Define the scope of courses and programs;
- Define learning standards;
- Explain the learning standards in detail and provide examples, so that a Curriculum Developer can produce content with efficiency and clarity;
- Provide guidance on canonical project code for exercises and projects;
- Ensure technical accuracy and enforce best practices in all produced content;
- Propose new courses and outcomes for learners;
