Advisor Controller - Analyst / Associate
This role will involve Accounting responsibilities, such as month end close duties, assisting with the preparation of budgets/forecasts, and consolidation of financial reports. The Advisor Controller will be on the Corporate Finance team and will report into the Vice President, Senior Accountant.
Due to COVID-19, this role will be remote until further notice. The location of the role will be based in Greenwich, CT once we reopen.
Responsibilities
- Oversight over an SEC registered Advisor Entity:
- accuracy of accounting and compliance with laws and regulations
- Preparation of Financials
- Ensure Cash reconciliation and recording of entries
- Preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assisting with the maintenance of all records and accounting files
- Maintenance of financial reporting schedules
- Calculating revenue and trails associated with specified client groups and revenue sources
- Overseeing A/P and A/R functions relating to various revenue sources and associated trail commissions:
- Prepare analysis related to company balance sheet and changes in accounts
- Ensure accuracy of receivables and payables
- Review for write offs quarterly
- Assisting in preparation of monthly management and board financial packages including consolidation of financial statements, actual versus budget variance analysis and compilation of Company KPI reports
- Identifying and remediating process gaps and implementing effective internal controls; Improve documentation of internal control processes
- Liaising with external auditors, tax preparer and other 3rd party service providers/clients
- Assisting in completing special projects as needed such as implementation of new accounting software
Candidate Profile
- 2+ years of Corporate Accounting experience within the Financial Services industry
- Familiarity with Feeder Fund structure or Fund Accounting experience would be highly preferred
- Familiarity with NetSuite preferred but not required
- Knowledge of booking journal entries and consolidation of financial statements required
- Degree in Accounting required
- CPA license preferred
- Proficient with Excel and Power Point
- Ability to manage large sets of data and be able to implement checks and balances
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Detailed oriented with big picture capability
