Major League Baseball is seeking an Analyst in the Club Analytics group. The Analyst serves as a key liaison between MLB and MLB Clubs with the goal of leveraging data and analytics to drive business impact, fan engagement, and growth. This role works closely with Clubs and other departments at MLB such as Product, Ticketing, and Technology, to provide key insights that help drive high priority strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is not only capable of analyzing and interpreting data, but can illustrate and explain complex concepts and findings that resonate with business stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with MLB Clubs and internal departments to analyze and leverage business data to deliver measurable impact through customer centric strategies and key performance indicators.

  • Develop dashboards, reports, and ad hoc analyses that provide insights into major projects, initiatives and trends around the league to help determine efficacy and drive business objectives.

  • Leverage all available tools and resources to identify and develop creative new strategies, campaigns, or initiatives and present thoughtful, cohesive evidence to support proposals to Clubs and MLB stakeholders.

  • Present a personable attitude and develop positive, professional relationships with all levels of MLB and Clubs.

  • Work with others to develop and facilitate best practices for data and analytics.

  • Educate Clubs about MLB analytics platforms and services and the value they can provide to Clubs.

  • Manage multiple tasks in a fast paced and deadline driven environment.

Required Skills:

  • College Graduate B.A. /B.S. degree with a relevant academic major is strongly preferred, though candidates with non-traditional schooling backgrounds and strong relevant experience will be considered.

  • 3-4 years related experience is preferred. 

  • Highly professional manner and excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Proficiency in quantitative data collection and data analysis (e.g., SQL, Excel etc.) is required. Additional technical literacy is preferred.

  • Client-facing experience is preferred. 

  • Experience with CRM systems, data warehousing, consumer marketing strategies and how they all relate is preferred.

  • Experience with BI platforms such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI or other data visualization software is preferred.

  • Experience with data science and statistical concepts is a plus.

  • Previous experience working within the sports industry is a plus.
