The Role: 

The Associate Analyst, FP&A will maintain and improve Newsela’s core headcount financial models, support annual budgeting, monthly forecasting and month end close process through headcount maintenance, expense tracking, and ad hoc analysis. Reporting to the FP&A Manager, you will play a critical role in maintaining headcount on a monthly basis, and continuously iterating to improve related reporting and analytics. You will prepare monthly variance reporting and provide value-added analytical support to the FInance team to ensure high quality financial reporting. You’ll also collaborate closely across multiple functions within the organization and will be relied upon to provide accurate reporting and expense tracking. Additionally, you’ll assist in preparing materials including board deck, investor presentations, and executive updates.

You have 1-2+ years experience in FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, financial strategy/operations, or a closely related field. You have demonstrated fundamental understanding of the FP&A process, accounting principles, and how to navigate typical scenarios that come up in managing a budget/forecast. You’re also experienced in identifying key model drivers and building basic financial models, and have a proven ability to support and build FP&A reports to assist in business analysis and decision making. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where you may wear multiple hats as a financial model guru, internal consultant, and business strategist. You are driven by metrics, and strive to partner across the organization to help add value to the business wherever possible. You are a trusted advisor with exceptional communication skills and can easily translate complex analysis to a variety of audiences. You excel in process management, and have a track record of maintaining and improving business processes.
