The Data and Analytics team at OwnBackup seeks an outstanding Senior Data Engineer (Tech Lead) to work with a team of Data Engineers, Business Intelligence Analysts, Analytics Engineers, Data Scientists and business stakeholders to create and leverage datasets that help measure, interpret, scale and grow our business.
The successful candidate will provide technical guidance to an existing team of Data Engineers while preparing and analyzing large volumes of customer, product, marketing, sales and system activity data. This position requires passion for working with data in the context of business processes, a good analytical mindset, business acumen, excellent communication skills and creativity. The ideal candidate needs to be a hands-on engineer with potential to grow into a people manager, and be able to communicate well with business and technical personnel.
Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to the existing team of Data Engineers
  • Design, implement, and maintain the data architecture and pipelines, and navigate permissions/compliance requirements to onboard new datasets while balancing performance and cost
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL, Python, Snowflake, and AWS technologies
  • Implement ETL to collect data from disparate sources (in motion or at rest) to support critical business operations
  • Build and integrate tools to monitor and ensure data quality and reliability
  • Identify, design, and implement internal processes and infrastructure for greater scalability
  • Share in the ownership of the technical vision and direction for advanced analytics and insight products/services


Tech Stack: Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Git, Python, Fivetran, AirByte,Tableau
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in technical field (analytics focus preferred) with a minimum of 5 years experience working with structured and unstructured data as a Data Engineer
  • Advanced, hands-on experience with SQL, Python, data modeling, data warehouse architectures, data warehouse administration (specifically Snowflake), AWS technologies and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience with software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, and comfortable working and managing development using Agile methodologies.
  • Experience in deployment automation & containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), scripting languages (Python), and data pipeline, workflow and development management tools (Airflow, dbt, etc.)
  • Experience with developing and executing automated test procedures
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills. Ability to convey complex technical concepts to business stakeholders required
  • Robust project management skills and experience, and the ability to keep track of timelines and deliverables involving multiple projects and initiatives involving participants from different teams required


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience using business intelligence reporting tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.) highly desired
  • Experience working with Salesforce, Dynamics CRM, Servicenow or similar highly desired
  • Experience with data governance, master data management and supporting tools desired
  • Previous experience working with a Data Science or ML team desired
  • Experience with regulatory frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA etc.) desired


Important Details
This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate will work out of our Englewood Cliffs, NJ or San Diego CA office to maximize collaboration and interaction with the business.
