Whip Media Group is seeking a contract Data Engineer to support the company’s Streaming Availability product. This offering, which is the result of a strategic partnership with BB Media in Buenos Aires, is the only comprehensive, purpose-built dataset of what TV shows and movies are currently streaming across all global platforms. With hundreds of thousands of titles available on over 2,000 tracked platforms across over 140 countries, this dataset is immense, in a constant state of flux, and highly valuable.

What Will You Do?

  • Streamline and optimize the data pipeline between BB’s API and Whip’s datastore
  • Adjust the timing and frequency of data pulls to minimize the lag between content changes on platforms and our tracking of them
  • Architect the schema to efficiently store historical availability for use in time-based queries
  • Evolve the pipeline and schema to accommodate new data as the needs of our existing and new customers demand
  • Set up a system to measure key KPIs
  • Create error reporting, install metrics, add data quality measures
  • Serve as the technical lead on communication between BB’s engineering team and Whip’s to ensure high-quality transmission between the two entities
  • Create dashboards that can facilitate sales
  • Respond to customer requests

What do you need?

  • 3+ years of meaningful experience with SQL and Python
  • Understanding of AWS infrastructures like SQS or Kinesis
  • Experience with ingesting external data sources into an existing platform
  • Highly self-motivated to drive projects forward and operate under tight deadlines
  • Strong team-player sensibilities and a demonstrated ability to coordinate across teams
