About Morty

Morty is on a mission to revolutionize the outdated mortgage industry by letting people shop, compare, and close any mortgage option from any lender, completely online. Purchasing a home is the largest, most important financial transaction of most people’s lives. We believe getting a mortgage should be just as simple, modern, and transparent as buying anything else online. We’re building the first ever fully digital mortgage marketplace to make this possible.

Morty was founded by a diverse team of mortgage industry vets and software engineers and is supported by an incredible group of investors and advisors including Thrive Capital, Lerer Hippeau, Prudence, and Techstars who have backed companies like Oscar, Compass, Lemonade, Slack, Airbnb, Stripe, Dropbox, Casper, and Warby Parker.

Morty just raised a $25 million Series B financing round, with a valuation of $150M – check out our feature in Forbes and this blog post from CEO and co-founder Nora Apsel to read more!

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a Data Analyst who wants to play a key role in bringing data insights to our team. As we continue to build out and improve our data infrastructure, that Analyst will serve as a resource to groups across the organization to help them understand and get the most out of our data. The ideal candidate is someone who is genuinely curious, with a desire to dig deeper to understand how systems work, where information is coming from, and what is causing any discrepancies or idiosyncrasies. They are able to internalize complex ideas and explain them in simple terms. They’re organized and able to find creative solutions to new problems and challenges. And they’re excited to join a fast-growing startup!

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop subject matter expertise on Morty’s data, including its source, structure, and organization.
  • Work across teams to understand and prioritize their data needs.
  • Leverage data expertise to build dashboards and visualizations with those teams, unlocking insights on every part of the business.
  • Maintain and organize centralized reporting to standardize information across the company.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with quantitative coursework (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology) or equivalent experience.
  • Fluency in SQL.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems large and small, distinguishing unexpected but accurate results from results marred by errors.
  • Experience in analytics or another data-oriented role is strongly preferred. Experience with BI tools is a plus.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize different tasks, managing one’s own time while also collaborating across teams.

Benefits

  • We’ve got you covered: 401k, unlimited PTO, casual dress code, and free health insurance (medical, dental, and vision) — we’re there for you! Plus, public transportation benefits and pre-tax plans if you choose to commute to our accessible office in West SoHo!

Morty is focused on building the team best suited to advance our mission to the benefit of homebuyers across the country. We recognize that work patterns have changed, and we now offer team members the option to work full- or part-time in our office in New York City or fully remotely. While each team has the flexibility to establish the work schedules and rhythms that make sense for their group, we request everyone’s working hours overlap substantially with Eastern Time so we can all stay connected.
