Block Renovation Data Analyst 


Block is a renovation platform transforming the $450 billion renovation industry. Today, doing a home renovation is an abysmal consumer experience and not easy for contractors either. Block democratizes access to high-end design, while combining design, construction, and materials into a streamlined experience. Block simplifies a complex and convoluted process and gives homeowners certainty on outcomes, quality, price, and time.

As a Data Analyst, you will work closely with Marketing, Sales, Operations, Product, Finance and Engineering. Your work will influence how the company scales efficiently. We take a principled approach to problem solving -- how do we solve the underlying problem in the most direct way possible, with an emphasis on cost/benefit tradeoffs and pragmatism.


  • Create data visualizations in Looker with a critical eye and extreme attention to detail
  • Improve accuracy and efficiency of our data sets
  • Work with C-suite members, functional heads to bring a quantitative lense to Block’s most important questions
  • Use business knowledge to perform proactive analysis that leads to actionable insights
  • Understand ELT pipeline and how it relates to the underlying business logic
  • Troubleshoot data and information flow issues
  • Help teams understand past and future performance with respect to KPIs

 Some examples of projects that you could be asked to focus on are:

  • Implement statistical models that improve operational efficiency and uncover new opportunities
  • Develop predictive models to help the teams better forecast throughput
  • Perform multi-faceted analysis into performance in launching a specific market 
  • Develop a model to understand quality of leads in the marketing and sales funnel


  • Generally, 2+ years of experience in data analysis
  • Passion for data and its ability to improve client, contractor, and Block internal outcomes
  • Ability to think critically and be a thought partner with senior business stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility 
  • Must have: Strong skills and experience with Looker, LookML, Liquid, Python, and SQL

On any given day, I’ll need to collaborate with sales, support, architects, designers, and software engineers to deliver the best experience for our clients. There’s always something to learn from each other, and the result ends up being greater than the sum of our parts.

It's so exciting to see the breadth of the platform we've shipped this past year. From our visual planner that shows real time design choices to clients, to the builder app our GCs run on their phones (iOS and Android) we've built a really strong foundation to innovate upon in 2021.
