Block Renovation Data Analyst

Block is a renovation platform transforming the $450 billion renovation industry. Today, doing a home renovation is an abysmal consumer experience and not easy for contractors either. Block democratizes access to high-end design, while combining design, construction, and materials into a streamlined experience. ROLE

As a Data Analyst, you will work closely with Marketing, Sales, Operations, Product, Finance and Engineering. Your work will influence how the company scales efficiently. We take a principled approach to problem solving -- how do we solve the underlying problem in the most direct way possible, with an emphasis on cost/benefit tradeoffs and pragmatism.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create data visualizations in Looker with a critical eye and extreme attention to detail
  • Improve accuracy and efficiency of our data sets
  • Work with C-suite members, functional heads to bring a quantitative lense to Block’s most important questions
  • Use business knowledge to perform proactive analysis that leads to actionable insights
  • Understand ELT pipeline and how it relates to the underlying business logic
  • Troubleshoot data and information flow issues
  • Help teams understand past and future performance with respect to KPIs

 Some examples of projects that you could be asked to focus on are:

  • Implement statistical models that improve operational efficiency and uncover new opportunities
  • Develop predictive models to help the teams better forecast throughput
  • Perform multi-faceted analysis into performance in launching a specific market 
  • Develop a model to understand quality of leads in the marketing and sales funnel

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Generally, 2+ years of experience in data analysis
  • Passion for data and its ability to improve client, contractor, and Block internal outcomes
  • Ability to think critically and be a thought partner with senior business stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility 
  • Must have: Strong skills and experience with Looker, LookML, Liquid, Python, and SQL
