The Role:

The Senior Learning Data Analyst will help  drive student learning engagement by managing the effort to leverage student log file data relevant to the Learning team's research. You will directly support the student learning engagement research, as well as curriculum and product feature development that results from it. You will develop an intimate knowledge of our databases and work with our data warehousing and BI developers to build the best data tables to support analyses and research. Specifically, you’ll manage the efforts to capture, use, and maintain event stream measurements that support student learning engagement datasets and research. Ultimately, you will support the corporate level endeavor to gather and measure Student Learning Engagement KPIs.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

Your human-computer interaction expertise will help uncover truths that help our Content, Product, and Data teams create stronger, more engaging learning experiences for millions of students. You will get to work with both internal platform data as well as data directly from the classrooms in which students are learning. You will be joining a rapidly growing team focused on leveraging data to drive student motivation, engagement, and learning. You will work alongside innovative data analysts and researchers to help build the foundation for a product that transforms K-12 education.

Why We’ll Love You:

You have 4+ years doing human-computer interaction projects and can solve complex data problems using reporting tools and SQL. Your strong SQL skills allow you to quickly discover and understand the structure of various data tables and relationships to be able to effectively model the data and create the tables needed for analyses/research. You’re adept in scripting and can take messy, disparate data and synthesize it effortlessly for effective, clear reporting and analyses. You’re comfortable independently using statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SPSS, Stata - not just Excel) to clean data output from SQL (ex: using tidyverse/pandas) and run analyses like correlations, ANOVAs, multilevel modeling, machine learning, factor analyses. You love diving into the nitty-gritty of data, but never lose sight of the big picture.  You’re also an effective communicator, acting as a liaison between the Learning department and important stakeholders across Product, Content, and Data and can translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You understand how to pull the right data together for analyses. You can effectively gather requirements to build successful analyses and reporting. In addition to your technical skills, you have an understanding of and deep interest in K-12 education and technology that helps you thoughtfully design data models and analyses for a wide range of audiences.
