Job Description

If so, you are in the right place! We are looking for someone who will take responsibility for the development and upkeep of the Tipico US Data platform while addressing the reporting and data analysis needs of the stakeholders. The Data Engineering Manager will be accountable for the deliverables of the Data Engineers while ensuring technology alignment and development standards.

This position requires someone who has a proactive, innovative and solution -orientated work approach. A person who is a team player with a hands on approach, that thrives in a past paced challenging environment.

The Data Engineering Manger will report directly to the Managing Director and work together with the rest of product and management teams. They will be responsible for articulating and driving the data vision, strategy and roadmap for Tipico USA. The position holder ensures this is done by doing the following: 

  • Be the counterpart to the Data Product Owner, helping in managing stakeholders across the organization within the data related queries. Converting data requirements into technical stories and ensure smooth implementation.
  • Build a strong team and data eco-system for Tipico’s future growth 
  • Be the driving force in developing and maintain the future data platform together with the team.
  • Build a scalable, modern and trusted data eco system, making sure it is responsive, available and in line with business requirements.
  • Manage daily sprints, workloads, roadmaps and deliverables through agile methodologies. 
  • Leading the technical delivery of data projects by ensuring solutions are envisioned, designed, developed, and implemented following data best practices. Communicating, present, and articulating complex technical solutions to data engineers.
  • Manage quality assurance, verification of accuracy and consistency of data – specifically KPI measures sent to the business.
  • Be a key part of the data vision and strategy. 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in Data Platforms / Data warehouse / BI experience
  • Must have experience in successfully implementing data-centric applications, such as data warehouses, operational data stores, and data integration projects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills that balance with creative approaches 
  • Ability to learn new and complex concepts quickly 
  • Strong experience with large-scale production databases and SQL
  • Solid understanding of cloud data services: AWS services such as S3, Athena, EC2, RedShift, EMR, EKS, RDS and Lambda
  • Strong experience with data modeling 
  • Experience with ETL development (extractions, data load, aggregation, transformation)
  • Experience with using business intelligence tools such as Qlikview, Qliksense, Domo, Tableau, Looker
  • Proficient in working with big data & new data technologies such as NIFI, Airflow, Kafka, Spark, and Logstash
  • Knowledge in working with time-series/analytics databases such as Elasticsearch
  • Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Marketing tooling and/or CRM systems is preferred
  • Must be able to take ownership of projects and lead other developers, ensuring diligence and consistency in carrying out tasks with a high level of attention to detail and priority.
  • Capacity to influence the rest of the team and able to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely
  • Proven ability to mentor and train team members

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge about and / or experience with sports betting
  • Background in digital companies, online, gambling, gaming, e-commerce, marketing, or mobile apps.
