The Opportunity
The Data Governance Analyst works closely with the rest of the data team to identify and implement best practices in storing and documenting data and related processes. You will provide strategic recommendations on how to best store and manage sensitive data. You will serve as a governance expert within the company helping document their workflows.
You will leverage existing processes is important but the key to long-term success will be helping develop new and improved ones.
You enjoy working with data and communicating your findings to the rest of the business. You are able to connect the dots and interact across the organization (we operate as a distributed team and communication with people around the globe is a daily occurrence). You thrive in a fast-paced environment where your recommendations impact people on a daily basis.
What You Will Do
- Lead in the identification and documentation of data and data assets.
- Deliver capabilities for identifying, documenting, storing, and making data knowledge more accessible and understandable.
- Support data architecture team to document and publish data flows and transformation definitions.
- Help review and run proof of concept of new governance-related tools for data quality, data glossary, data issue tracking, data flow visuals, and governance.
- Ensure the proper processes and governance tools are used when 3rd party data is integrated to our systems.
- Develop, manage and maintain: Data glossary, Data lineage flow documentation, Governance decisions and approvals, and trusted source assessments.
What You Will Have
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 4+ year of experience working for a small to medium sized technology company as a data governance analyst or similar role.
- Experience working with and deriving insights / business recommendations from complex data environments.
- Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Looker, etc.
- Python and SQL reading skills working with complex queries, data warehouses and notebooks
- Experience working with PII rules and policies
